IT biggie, offers pre-configured pay-by-use cloud
From Vishnu Anand in Bangalore
The learning that most Indian SMBs (95% of all Indian companies are SMBs and 60% of them have no form of ICT infrastructure) want to concentrate on their core business and leave Information Technology management to an external partner, has translated into the launch of iON by Indian Infotech leader TCS.. Aiming to integrate hardware, software and network requirements of SMBs, with in-built compliance capabilities, and delivery via the cloud, iON targets SMBs in verticals like manufacturing, automobiles, bio-technology and textile – and these make up its current 150-strong customer base It addresses the entire spectrum of an SMB’s technology needs from business solutions like HR, finance, inventory, sophisticated domain-based ERP solutions as well as basic applications like email, document management and website services.
With household names like GK Vale and Oxford Group of Institutions featured in the list of existing customers, iON also plans to target start-up companies for whom the services suite can be built from scratch, V Ramaswamy, Group Head iON said, “For our customers, we become their single point of contact, and since there is no upfront investment, they can realise the uses of adopting cloud technology as they grow in their business.” He said however that every customer would need to sign a three-year contract with TCS for the offering.
TCS has dedicated two data centers exclusively for the iON, the main one being hosted in Mumbai. The solutions are taken to the market through a best of breed Cloud Service Partners (CSPs). For Karnataka, some of the partners include NewWave Computing, Frontier Business Systems, Atna Technologies, Binary Systems, Value Point Systems, Webcom Information Technology, Affordable Business Solutions, Clockwork Business Solutions, etc.
