Six thousand plus business visitors, 1000+ delegates; 131 exhibitors, 10 Indian states.. the numbers stack up well at end of the 2010 edition of Bangalore IT.Biz which ended on Saturday. Speaking at the closing press conference, Principal Secretary to Govt., Department of IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka, Ashok Kumar C.Manoli said, “Our primary aim this year was to add value to our participants by responding to the current needs of the industry. This included focus on emerging sectors, opportunity to garner more business, knowledge enhancement and networking. We are delighted to note that all these objectives and more have been addressed at the Bangalore IT.biz 2010 and it has emerged as a focused B2B event”.
Added David Keynan, CEO , BDO-I2I, Israel, “We have been working with the BangaloreIT.Biz event organizers for the last six months on enhancing the relationship between Karnataka ITBT ministry and the Israeli high tech industry. Now that the conference is over, we could say that reality has exceeded expectations in more than one way. The event was the trigger and venue for the Karnataka-Israel R&D collaboration agreement with Matimop, expected to be signed in few weeks at the ministers’ level.”
With this year’s theme “Billion Strong- Empowered by ICT” the event featured conference tracks on e-governance, GIS, embedded technology, IT applications in frontier technologies, animation and energy & environment to name a few. The International conference focussed on the benefits of cloud computing and growth drivers for IT in India.
InterlinX an effective partnering tool was introduced for the first ever time in Bangalore IT.biz this year. The response to the tool was tremendous and exciting having over 250 active delegates in the system from 190 organizations. The delegates sent 450 meeting requests to each other using InterlinX to schedule their meetings during the event.
That hardy annual, the Rural IT quiz driven by the department of IT and supported by TCS extended the competition across the country this year covering 14 States. To achieve inclusive awareness, the quiz was extended to the North-Eastern States and Jammu & Kashmir.
The Karnataka government pegged its new initiative – ePCO – at the event. The aim is to rejuvenate STD-ISD booths by making them Internet-driven service centres.
