Taking IT abroad: Indian tech players  serve new geographies

Indian information technology companies are providing solutions to customers in  the emerging markets of Africa, South America and Europe – looking beyond the traditional North American business. We bring you news of a clutch of client gains and accolades that have been announced just  this month:
TCS/Diligenta

Diligenta , a subsidiary of leading Indian IT services, business solutions and outsourcing firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and one of the largest BPO providers in the UK, has won major business wins with Phoenix Group and Old Mutual International following the transfer of Unisys Insurance Services Limited’s (UISL) UK life & pensions services business to Diligenta. The company’s new contract with Phoenix Group has been extended by an additional six years until 2018 and both contracts will generate £250 million in revenue for the company over that period.
“TCS set up Diligenta to specialise in the provision of business process outsourcing services for the UK life & pensions industry. These new wins further cement the company’s position amongst the largest providers of such services in the UK market”, says Phiroz Vandrevala, Chairman, Diligenta and Executive Director, TCS.

Sonata Software
Bangalore-headquartered IT consulting and software services leader, Sonata Software, has announced the opening of its new office in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The office will cater to the requirements of Sonata’s growing number of customers in the BeNeLux (Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg) countries. This brings to 12, the total number of Sonata’s offices outside India : 6 of these are in the US, 4 in Europe, 1 in the Middle East and 1 in Singapore.
“Europe is a strategic market for Sonata This new office will facilitate us to strengthen our relationships with the existing European customers, identify and initiate new business opportunities, and actively promote our services and offerings in the region”, says B Ramaswamy, Sonata’s, President and Managing Director.

Subex
Global provider of Operations and Business Support Systems for Communication Service Providers Subex Ltd, has been selected by a major telecommunications service provider in Ecuador to implement its industry leading ROC (Revenue Operations Center) Fraud Management Solution. The operator will be deploying the ROC Fraud Management Solution for its entire operations, including the wireline and mobile networks across Ecuador.
The ROC Fraud Management solution is a key component of the ROC and will help the operator to have in place a foolproof system to prevent any occurrence of fraud in their network”, says Sudeesh Yezhuvath, Chief Operating Officer, Subex.
Only days earlier, Subex was selected by Worldstream System and Services to implement its industry leading ROC Fraud Management and Revenue Assurance solutions for the Econet Group in Zimbabwe, Lesotho and Burundi in Africa.The Bangalore-based provider’s customers include 36 of the world's 72 biggest telecommunications service providers. The company has more than 300 installations across 70 countries.
