Sawantwadi, Maharashtra July 25  2018: US-headquartered Internet Cloud services operator, Streamcast,  announced plans yesterday to open a  Streamcloud  compute date centre in Sawantwadi,   in Maharashtra's Sindhudurg district, 380 kms from Pune on the Goa border.
The facility across 12 acres of land is  the company’s first data centre in India and involves an  investment of over  Rs   22 billion (2200 crore) over the next four to five years.

Streamcloud is a high-performance cloud computing business of the Streamcast Group. Streamcloud Data Centres provide uninterrupted and superior delivery of the core SaaS service offered by the Group at low cost. After the successful launch of its global Data Centre in Malta, Streamcloud’s Data Centre in India, aims to boost development of developing regions by bringing its best in class infrastructure, high-end technology as well as to drive employment and education opportunities in the region
|The foundation stone was laid last week by  Maharashtra Minister of State for Home ( rural) Planning Deepak Kesarkar along with  Ratnagiri - Sindhudurg  MP Vinayak Raut and Nimish Pandya, Chairperson, Streamcast Group.
Said Kesarkar in his inaugural comments: “Sindhudurg is a haven of natural beauty. It is bestowed with environmental treasure and it has always been our endeavour to protect and nurture it and at the same time, make it known on the global map. Welcoming sectors such as IT and Engineering to Sindhudurg, we are welcoming non-polluting yet futuristic industries to Sindhudurg. Today, with Streamcloud, it is a beginning of this future. We are opening the doors of technology and with that, opportunities of employment and specialised training. And with Streamcast’s philosophy of benefiting the entire community, the launch of SAI Centre of IT Excellence will give the youth of Sindhudurg an opportunity to train in all facets of hardware and software development, empowering them to work anywhere in this global landscape.”

In line with the company philosophy of supporting community, Streamcast Group will also be setting up a vocational centre under the name of SAI Centre of IT Excellence which will offer IT courses for students. The centre will be launched with the aim to provide the youth of Sindhudurg and Maharashtra with the opportunities to skill themselves in the field of Information Technology and to thereby, generate employment.
