Second Coming for Android One

Xiaomi's latest -- Mi A1 -- marks the return   of Android One, in a more powerful form.
Bangalore, September 8 2017:When it was first launched, Android One, was  Google's   version for entry-level devices. A few Indian brands launched handsets  but didn't create any waves.
Now Google seems to have learnt a few things: you can make a smart phone less smart by too many design concessions.
So it has reworked  Android One  with some canny tweaks  and the first phone maker to roll out an Android One ( revised) handset is Xiaomi. The  global launch tto place in India a few days back. While the device has debuted here, it will reach Russia, Hong Kong, Poland, Taiwan, Mexico and other countries in  coming weeks.

The Mi A1 is  the first dual-lens camera phone to run on Android One. But the device has much more to its credit all round -- design, camera, sound, performance. Most device manufacturers go in for a colour + colour or colour + monochrome combination in  their camera lenses. With the Mi A1, Xiaomi has gone  with a more expensive wide angle + telephoto combo of lenses. This  means that one lens is dedicated exclusively to landscape and the other to portrait, ensuring superior depth, detail and colour performance in real-life. Using a combination of deep learning algorithms and stereoscopic imaging, Xiaomi claims to achieve superior image quality and detailing.
Ttis device can be operated easily with a single hand. It features Corning Gorilla Glass, a 5.5 inches screen and very discreet separation lines along the edges. The black variant comes with a unique coating that eliminates fingerprints on the body of the phone.
The Mi A1, however features a 10V smart power amplifier which amplifies sound and provides clearer, louder and more detail in audio, even at relatively high volumes. Using a special  audio calibration algorithm, and a standalone audio amplifier, Xiaomi is able to optimize audio output not just through the headphones, but also through the built-in speakers. The Mi A1 comes in a 4GB + 64 GB configuration (expandable up to 128 GB), powered by the Snapdragon 625 processor and a 3080 mAh battery. The 12 MP + 12 MP dual back and 5 MP front cameras are housed in a 5.5 inches shell that is 7.3 mm thick. The Mi A1 goes on sale September 12, at Rs. 14,999.
