Panasonic taps TCS to create India Innovation Centre in Bangalore

Bangalore, May 24 2017: Panasonic is the latest global electronics player to tap Indian innovation: The company whose manufacturing hub in this country currently exports to 16 countries in the ISAMEA (India, South Asia, Middle East & Africa) region is now foraying into local manufacturing and development of appliances.
To transform its business model to include disruptive technologies in the field of IoT, Mobility, Artificial Intelligence (AI) etc., Panasonic India has created its first India Innovation Centre (IIC)—and a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in association with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
The Centre will bring the best minds from both companies to develop transformative solutions on Panasonic’s five key focus areas – Connected/ Community, Mobility, Energy, Industrial and Finance Solutions. This facility will be located at the TCS - Bangalore.
The CoE will leverage the technology already available with Panasonic India, and create Geography centric USPs to develop innovative solutions. TCS will bring in Industry know-how, best & global Innovation practices, and create an ecosystem for Panasonic to shape the future product strategy, and enable in digital transformation.
Says Daizo Ito, Managing Executive Officer, Regional Head for ISAMEA, Senior Vice President, Eco Solutions Company in charge of Overseas Business: “The Centre of Excellence is the first leg for India Innovation Centre. It will bring Panasonic’s research and development efforts under one cohesive umbrella. Panasonic markets its consumer electronics, home appliances like LED & DVD players, Home Theatre Systems, Cameras, Camcorders, Car Audio Systems, Air Conditioners, Washing Machines, Refrigerators, Microwave Ovens, Automatic Cookers, Vacuum Cleaners as well as communication products like Phones, Videoconferencing, etc in India. The company currently has a workforce of about 13,000 in India & South Asia.
