NetApp launches startup programme as it moves into new Bangalore facility

Announces the first startup accelerator programme from its newly opened campus in Bangalore

Bangalore, January 18 2017: Data management and storage solutions  leader , NetApp has opened a new global centre of excellence in Whitefield, Bangalore.
The cloud storage technology provider also announced that it  would spearhead  a startup accelerator programme, called Escape Velocity from here. The company plans to invest in technology start-ups and expand its data fabric ecosystem.|“The Escape Velocity program will help to share our technology expertise and business acumen with innovative startups, which will add to the robust cloud data management ecosystem our customers need. With our support, these startups will be on a path to win in a dynamic global IT environment,” said Deepak Visweswaraiah, Vice President and Managing Director, NetApp India.

Spread over 15 acres of land, the new development centre houses the company’s largest R&D centre with capacity of around 3000 employees. Already functional, the centre now  houses around 2000 engineers. The facility is an all-steel building with sustainable design to save energy and resources. Visweswaraiah mentioned that the new 12,000 square-foot data centre is designed to use ambient cooling techniques to optimize energy usage. The centre consumes only 1.8 mega watts, which is relatively less when compared to 3 mega watts power consumption in their old facility.
Added George Kurian, CEO and President, NetApp:  “We recognize that our employees are the core of the system. Hence, we allow them to be at their best self here.”  The campus comes with a health centre that has in-house doctors, a fitness centre, convenience store, sports arena, etc for its employees.
