HCL acquires Geometric while Dassault buys back the 3DPLM business

Noida and Mumbai, April 2 20165:  In a three-way consolidation of talents and technology,  global IT services leader HCL, is to acquire the business of engineering services company  Geometric,  except for the latter's  58%  stake in    3DPLM which parent  Dassault Systèmes will buy back.
The acquisition strengthens HCL’s presence significantly in the Project Lifecycle Management  consulting as well as mechanical and manufacturing engineering space. It also significantly strengthens HCL’s automotive and industrial practices. The business that HCL is acquiring, in one of the largest acquisitions in the engineering services space, has more than 60 global clients in USA and Europe, majorly in automotive and industrial engineering segments. As of December 2015, it employs 2,606 people across 13 global delivery locations in the US, France, Germany, Romania, India and China. Headquartered in Mumbai, Geometric was incorporated in 1994

3DPLM, formed in 2002, comprises a talented team of over 2000 employees in India working on research and development tasks and services related to Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform and brand applications. Becoming a fully integrated part of Dassault Systèmes’ global R&D activity will  enhance the contribution and value-add of 3DPLM to Dassault Systèmes development projects, while offering greater career development opportunities for its personnel. Moreover, the strategic next phase in 3DPLM calls for tighter linkages that will translate in the immediate and medium term to the need for investments in the technology platforms, and a resultant potential change in the current business model of 3DPLM. .

Says G.H Rao, President, Engineering and R&D Services, HCL Technologies: “We are looking forward to an exciting journey and extend a warm welcome to the employees, customers and partners of Geometric. With broad end–to–end capabilities and rich experience across PLM consulting, mechanical and manufacturing engineering that Geometric brings in, the synergies allow us to take advantage of the rapidly growing manufacturing engineering and PLM services market. "

Adds Manu Parpia, CEO and MD of Geometric Ltd.: “I welcome this as a truly synergistic transaction, as both our employees and customers will benefit. Our customers will have access to a wide range of engineering services which complement Geometric’s offerings. Geometric’s employees will have the opportunity for growth as they can serve HCL Tech’s large customer base.”

“Throughout our 14-year partnership with Geometric, we have together developed competitive R&D and services at 3DPLM with dedicated and passionate people, which have become important assets for our global R&D. We thank Geometric management for their sustained support”, said Dominique Florack, Senior Executive Vice President, Research & Development, Dassault Systèmes. “The full integration of 3DPLM into Dassault Systèmes is the result of this continuous investment and very successful partnership and also marks the strategic next phase in the contribution of 3DPLM in our strategic R and D operations."
