New Delhi, March 10 2016: Samsung Electronics  has launched its flagship devices, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge in India, hard on the heels of the first unveiling of the devices at this year’s Mobile World Congress, Barcelona.
Speaking at the launch event held in Delhi, Ken Kang, Managing Director, Mobile & IT, Samsung India Electronics, said: “This evolution is also a testimony to our commitment to our consumers and to bring meaningful innovations that will enhance their smartphone experience not just in the present, but also in the future. Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge take a bigger leap by reimagining what a smartphone can be.
Indian engineers from Bangalore and Noida R&D centers have contributed majorly towards the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge development that includes the Samsung Concierge, an expansion of the My Galaxy platform to cater to the needs of premium users in India. This platform would offer customized services like My Assistant, Phone pick up and drop, Fast Track service and Live Chat.
The Indian R&D team from Bangalore has contributed towards the camera enhancements and features like the Motion Panorama feature and the Spotlight Selfie feature. With the Motion Panorama feature would enable consumers to capture live events in great detail by capturing every piece of dynamic motion. The Spotlight Selfie feature would provide a studio-like environment with virtual light source.
The Galaxy S7 comes with a 5.1-inch screen, while the S7 Edge comes with a 5.5-inch screen. Both the smartphones feature a light-weight, metal alloy body with water and dust resistance.  The primary camera of 12 megapixels comes with Dual Pixel technology and a F1.7 aperture. The secondary camera is of 5 megapixels.
Powered by the Octa core processors, the S7 and S7 edge have a 4 GB RAM.  The devices feature a hybrid dual SIM slot, which would support two SIM cards or a microSD card in the second slot. The internal storage is of 32 GB, expandable up to 200 GB.
“Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will offer consumers the ultimate smartphone experience that set new benchmarks in the global mobile space, with cutting-edge design and extraordinary performance,” said  Manu Sharma, Director, Mobile Business, Samsung India Electronics. 
He  added that innovations such as Dual Pixel technology in Galaxy S7 & Galaxy S7 edge camera delivers brighter and sharper images, even in low light and Samsung Concierge offer more personalized experience for users. 
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge are priced at Rs. 48,900 and Rs. 56,900, respectively. The devices will go on sale from  March 18 and now available for pre-booking. Customers pre booking the smartphones will get the Gear VR free
