Indian mobile service providers jointly honored by GSMA

Barcelona, February 25 2016: Indian Mobile Operators have  jointly  received the  GSM Association’s highest honour the  - GSMA Chairman’s Award 2016
The Award went to a group of six Indian mobile operators - Aircel, Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular, Tata Teleservices, Telenor and Vodafone - for their outstanding achievement in support of the GSMA’s Mobile Connect Initiative.
The Award, was presented by His Highness, Felipe VI, King of Spain, to Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman, Bharti Airtel, who received it on behalf of mobile operators,  on the sidelines of the ongoing Mobile World Congress.
The GSMA’s Mobile Connect service enables customers to create and manage a universal identity that will securely authenticate them and allow them to safely access mobile and digital services such as e-commerce, banking, health and digital entertainment, as well as e-government portals, via their mobile phones.
Mobile Connect has seen unprecedented collaboration in India. With significant work on product development and enablement, the operators collectively covered 85% of the Mobile Connect addressable market in India.
