Gone in 39 minutes -- Indian buyers grab 100,000 units of a Chinese phone, sight unseen
Hot favourite...the Xiaomi Mi3 phone

Bangalore, July 23, 2014: Indian customers with their instinct for paisa vasool or a good bargain,  have booked the entire  stock on offer of a made-in-China mobile phone, without having seen it, within  minutes of its  launch online.
Xiaomi,  reports that its Mi3 handset that was  offered at the   online retail site Flipkart ,  saw  100,000 buyers pre-booking it in less than 39 minutes  -- crashing the site in the process.
The phone was first  announced  in India  on July 15,  just  a week before booking opened yesterday, offering buyers no chance to even look-n-feel the product.
Clearly they went by the combo of price and specs which they seemed to have liked: A 5-inch Full HD 1080p IPS display ,  2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800AB processor,  13-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash,  HSPA+ 3G connectivity with a large   3050 mAh  battery ... with an asking price of Rs 13,999.
