Rare international accolade for Indian  tech bureaucrat

Mumbai,December 9 , 2013: The Information Technology (IT) Secretary for the Indian state of Maharashtra, Rajesh Aggarwal,  joins a select roster of global  technology leaders  to be honoured as one of the  2014 Premier 100 IT Leaders  by the international magazine ComputerWorld.

The Premier 100 spotlights technology leaders for their exceptional leadership and innovative approaches to solving complex business challenges with the use of technology. These IT executives are driving technology innovation in business, education and government across the country and around the world. Using Computerworld's IT Leader Index, which is a measurement of how closely an individual matches our definition of the IT Leader,  the magazine  analyze the data. Each year, 100 honorees are selected to receive this lifetime recognition award.

The selection of Rajesh Aggarwal as one of the IT Leaders of 2014 is a recognition of the work undertaken in IT and e-Governance in Maharashtra  State in the last couple of years. The State Government has also won 100 plus  awards at various national and international forums for e-Governance which highlights the exemplary work done during this period. The State Government has excelled in implementation of UID program, Implementation of Govt. Cloud, Implementation of IPV6, Launch of Mobile Applications, Localization and Accessibility, Implementation of Paperless Office, e-Tendering, Implementation of Citizen services through CSCs etc.

Aggarwal was also selected for the prestigious Dataquest Editors Choice CIO Excellence Award. This award recognizes the work of leading CIOs in the country for bringing about significant changes in the manner in which government, citizens, and businesses interact with each other for effective delivery of services and information. The  Dataquest award will be conferred on him on 11th December 2013 at a function in Mumbai.
