KPIT unveils Intelligent transport system for Indian buses

New Delhi, December 8, 2013:  -- Indian product engineering and IT solutions provider  KPIT,  has created an On-Bus Intelligent Transport System (ITS) for Bus-Manufacturers and State Transport Utilities (STU) -- the first to be certified by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI)  and mandated for all vehicles under the  JnNURM II programme of urban renewal mission.

The solution will  help  bus transport authorities in reducing response time to emergencies and enhancing operating efficiency with features such as automatic vehicle location, vehicle health monitoring & diagnostics. These features will be managed by the back-end support offered by KPIT at the depot control using cloud technology and remote diagnostics. Additionally, KPIT On-Bus ITS helps in enhancing passenger convenience & security with passenger information system and security camera network system that includes features like facial recognition.

The intuitive HMI (Human Machine Interface) is bus operator friendly and eases route selection task, gives alarms & warnings and has a reverse camera display. The product is also equipped with a panic button for emergency and remote surveillance for enhanced safety and security. On-Bus ITS also reduces downtime of buses leveraging over the air upgrade & remote diagnostics of the product.
The JnNURM-II compliant On-Bus ITS  was unveiled at the 6th Urban Mobility India Conference & Expo 2013  held in Delhi last week.
