What is this emerging arena of Affilaite Marketing?
According to Wikipedia: Affiliate marketing is a type of performance-based marketing in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought by the affiliate's own marketing efforts. The industry has four core players: the merchant (also known as 'retailer' or 'brand'), the network (that contains offers for the affiliate to choose from and also takes care of the payments), the publisher (also known as 'the affiliate'), and the customer. The market has grown in complexity, resulting in the emergence of a secondary tier of players, including affiliate management agencies, super-affiliates and specialized third party vendors.
The key to good relationships is good communication  When you develop a good communication about your brand to the consumers, setting a particular value of the brand in the market and thereby converting it into sales, the process is called marketing. Over the years, there has been a dramatic change in the process of marketing; advancements have provided digital marketing where the communication has become much more interactive, engaging and providing insightful leads and sales.
The constant exposure about the brand via different mediums including the digital platform provides for branding. Branding helps for registration and recollection of the brand name. However, it does not necessarily convert into sales. So the question arises, how does one measure the amount of leads generated or converted sales through branding? Companies and brands spend whacking amount on branding, with the motive to generate revenues along with recognition of the brand name.
In this case, affiliate marketing, a type of performance-based marketing comes to the rescue, it provides for maximum reach to brands along with lead generation.  Affiliate marketing involves a network of affiliates who enroll to publish or display ads of particular brand or brands on their webpage or website. When consumers who visit this webpage or website, click on the displayed ads and make a purchase. The affiliated publisher earns a commission from the sale.
Brands tend to choose affiliate marketing as they heavily benefit with it. Brands that usually spend enormous amount on branding without having a clue of the amount of lead that will be generated from it now, have a clear image about the impact and performance of this branding. They get wider reach as relevant and popular publishers affiliate to display the ads of the brand. And the most crucial benefit is that they have to pay only after sales are generated through the affiliates.
These affiliates are generally, popular bloggers/publishers, who have good ranking in search engines and produces content that sounds relevant to the brands. For example, a blogger who writes on sports or fitness can be a good affiliate for a sports brand like Nike.
Affiliate marketing basically creates a win-win situation for all. Brands benefit as they only have to pay after sales are generated. Whereas, affiliates benefit as they earn additional revenue through displaying these ads. The network of affiliate marketing is steadily growing across globe.
