Bangalore January 3 2012: Thin in in! Powerful, yet  small client PCs  ( also called  nano PCs) capable  of  running the new Windows 8,  which occupy a fraction of the   real estate of traditional desktops  have become available, thanks to a new generation of  power-efficient processors.

XL 500 Thin client from RDP

 Bangalore-headquartered RDP Workstations  has just launched  the XL 500 Windows 8- Ready thin client, powered by  an Intel 1.8GHz dual-core processor and optimized for  virtual PC environments like VMware View or Citrix HDX.

The dual-display capable XL 500 answers the need for demanding application delivery and demanding Graphics performance for graphics-intensive applications, including video.  The new XL 500  includes:Advanced video decoders adapted for HD decoding intensive tasks & multi-display HD videos, USB 3.0 connectivity, HDMI, DVI and VGA display connection options, Support for Gigabit Ethernet and available integrated B/G/N dual band Wi-Fi option,  Additional features include: Instant Boot & Flash, Web-based BIOS Update, APP Charger, Boot Failure Guard (B.F.G.), PXE boot etc. It is powered by Windows Embedded Standard 7 and  is Windows 8 Ready.. a true green PC, it costs just a rupee shy of Rs 10,000.

 7000 series Nano PC  range from Foxconn

Foxconn, , leading China based manufacturer of computer components and systems, has launched new range of NanoPC:  the 7000 series NanoPC models AT-7300, AT-7500 and AT-7700.They offer the full Windows 8 experience and  are around 30 times smaller than a typical Micro-ATX PC. AT-7300 is powered by Intel Core i3-3217U dual core 1.8GHz processor without the turbo button, AT-7500 is powered by Intel Core i5-3217U dual core 1.7GHz processor with the turbo of about 2.6G and the AT-7700 is powered by Intel Core i7-3217U dual core 1.9GHz processor with the turbo of about 3G.  They weigh only 600g with a dimension of 19(W) x 135(D) x 3.8(H)mm. They support one SATA II connector for 2.5"HDD or SSD. These models support Wi-Fi and one SO-DIMM socket to support DDR3 memory up to 16GB.  The Intel HM76 Express Chipset provides integrated USB 3.0 on single chip architecture and supports both the 3rd and 2nd generation Intel Core processor families.  The Nano PCs  are compatible with Windows and Linux operating systems and can be customized according to customer's requirement.
