SolidWorks design contest challenges  engineering students

New Delhi, October 17, 2011 –  3D design solutions provider, Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks  has announced  an innovative skills competition- “SolidWorks Skills Design Competition” aimed  at budding engineers from across the world and challenging them to  exchange creative ideas and tips for efficient and accurate designing.
All engineering students above eighteen years of age pursuing full time degree courses from India, Australia, South Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia are eligible participants for the contest.
Announcing the launch of the “SolidWorks Skills Design Competition” Sharon Toh, General Manager, South Asia Pac/Korea Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks Corp. said: “Designing forms a significant and inherent part of any engineering marvel. Globally, the CAD industry is witnessing an exponential growth which has led to a surge in the demand for engineering designers who are innovative, efficient and can create highly accurate designs. With this contest, we aim to tap the potential of the young engineering community and nurture their talent and prepare them for the evolving designing needs of the industry.”

The registration for the competition opened on October 1st, 2011 and would continue till November 5th, 2011. The participants would go through two rigorous selection rounds (Country and Regional) and would be assessed by an esteemed panel of jury comprising leading industry veterans and SolidWorks team.

The Country level round  would evaluate the participant’s ability to build an assembly using SolidWorks® 3D design software. The date and venue for participation would be informed to the registered students by email. Twelve shortlisted candidates from each of the six countries would then participate on a global level in the Regional competition to be held on 28th November, 2011 in Singapore. Lots of amazing prizes to be won, the country level competition winner would receive a SolidWorks Student Edition Software license (12months) and SolidWorks Backpack and Gifts. The Regional Competition winners would be commemorated with attractive prizes including an economy round trip ticket to SolidWorks World 2012 to be held in San Diego, California, a Conference fee & Accommodation during SolidWorks World 2012 and a Samsung NF210-A01 Netbook. The second prize winner has the same privileges excluding the Samsung Netbook and the Third prize is an Apple iPad 2 32 GB with Wi Fi.
