National Instruments puts  “Planet NI” on the Web

India-specific portal will cater to education, small biz.

Virtual Instrumentation leader, National Instruments, has launched a web portal to anchor its year-old non-profit initiative “PlanetNI.in” The website will address the needs of education institutes and small and medium entrepreneurs by providing access to technology at an affordable cost for enabling current and future engineers to achieve economic prosperity.
This website  is expected to serve as a platform for people to share ideas and knowledge which would help to grow the Planet NI Foundation. College students in will have an opportunity to learn and experience the technology that is being used today. Planet NI empowers individuals and organizations in empowering them with better technology. 
Victor Mieres,  US-based Vice President - Sales, Asia for NI said in Bangalore last week: “In just one year, we are glad to see such overwhelming response from entrepreneurs across India. Keeping this in mind, we have launched the website for improving the quality of education, supporting small and medium entrepreneurship and supporting a greener planet for long term sustainability. Through the Planet NI Foundation, we have already empowered 110 SME’s in the last one year and plan to spread the message to many more.”
Jayaram Pillai, NI’s Managing Director for India, Arabia and Russia is credited with nurturing  many initiatives that saw small start-ups in the region, leverage NI tools like LabView to create compelling applications for the local markets.
